Welcome to week 26 of your pregnancy. Here’s a gentle look at what to expect at 26 weeks pregnant — baby’s size, changes in your body, common 26 weeks pregnant symptoms and a caring tip from Dr. Humaira.
Baby's size
The size of a head of lettuce / scallion bunch — about 35.6cm.
What's happening
Baby's eyes are starting to open, and eyelashes are formed. The lungs continue maturing, and baby may respond to bright light directed at your belly.
Your body
Your uterus is now well above your belly button. Some swelling in hands/feet by evening is common.
Common symptoms
- Strong movement
- Swelling (mild)
- Backache
- Braxton Hicks
- Sudden significant swelling, especially with headache or vision changes
- Reduced fetal movement
- Regular painful contractions
