Reviewed by Dr. Humaira Latif, OB-GYN & Ultrasound Specialist
Welcome to week 30 of your pregnancy. Here’s a gentle look at what to expect at 30 weeks pregnant — baby’s size, changes in your body, common 30 weeks pregnant symptoms and a caring tip from Dr. Humaira.
Baby's size
The size of a large cabbage — about 39.9cm.
What's happening
Baby's brain is developing distinctive grooves and folds. Bone marrow is now fully responsible for red blood cell production. Baby is gaining weight steadily — around half a pound a week from here.
Your body
You may notice more frequent Braxton Hicks contractions as your body prepares.
Common symptoms
- Strong movement
- Braxton Hicks
- Fatigue
- Swelling
- Heartburn
- Reduced fetal movement
- Regular contractions 4+ per hour before 37 weeks
- Leaking fluid (possible water breaking early)
Keep doing your daily kick counts — noticing a real change in your baby's usual pattern is one of the most reliable signs to check in with your doctor.
