Week 33
Reviewed by Dr. Humaira Latif, OB-GYN & Ultrasound Specialist
Welcome to week 33 of your pregnancy. Here’s a gentle look at what to expect at 33 weeks pregnant — baby’s size, changes in your body, common 33 weeks pregnant symptoms and a caring tip from Dr. Humaira.
Baby's size
The size of a pineapple — about 43.7cm.
What's happening
Baby's immune system is strengthening, receiving antibodies from you through the placenta. The skull bones remain unfused and flexible to allow passage through the birth canal.
Your body
You may notice baby's movements feel different — less dramatic kicks, more rolling and stretching, as space becomes limited.
Common symptoms
- Different movement pattern (rolls/stretches vs. sharp kicks)
- Backache
- Pelvic pressure
- Trouble sleeping
- A real reduction or absence of movement (not just a change in type)
- Regular contractions
- Severe pelvic or abdominal pain
A shift from sharp kicks to more rolling movements is normal as baby runs out of room — but you should still feel regular activity every day. Keep tracking.
